Rare antique French large Holy water font, carved wood back on which is applied a fine detailed French pipe clay angel with elegant wings, and for the water a real shell attached. The entire piece measures 16″ tall, with the angel measuring 7″ tall. Two small angel or cherub faces in the Reynaud angel style are on the cloud on which the large angel stands. Wood backing extends to a lovely cross on top. One of the finest Holy Water fonts we have had in a long time. The French Pipe clay figure is magnificent. We bought this for our own personal use several decades ago from a fine antiques dealer that does exclusive shows, she buys all her fine items in France; it is one of the highest quality Holy Water Fonts we ever owned. We did not keep water in it, but displayed it on our wall, we had never seen one with such a fabulous angel.
